 NCP Patrol - Nonconforming Product Management

NCP Patrol is based on MAP's new mobile-friendly PLM platform. NCP can be integrated with your existing LIMS/MES, or with QDMS. PLM NCP incorporates current best practices, including those of regulated markets such as medical devices, such as Cost of Poor Quality, RCA, CAPA, Emergency Review (recall coordination), and fully configurable workflow to efficiently facilitate the disposition process to minimize financial loss due to nonconforming product. NCP Patrol functionality includes:

Approval Routes


NCP supports a multi-Level approval process - The owner of a given NCP has the ability to require approval of each task, or not. If approval is required, three approval workflow levels are available: Standard approval, Expanded approval, and Escalated approval. The persons in the approval route are defined, and managed in, the Admin Panel. Approval routes can be sequential, group-based (more than one person in any order), or a combination of both. Additionally, alternates for each approver can be defined.




NCP events can be organized into Categories and Subcategories to make finding NCPs easier and to enable more meaningful NCP reports. 




The admin panel enables the management of user roles such as NCP Managers, NCP Owners, and NCP Investigators.

Each NCP event is organized into two sections:
1. NCP Information - Provides for management of all the supporting information such as the applicable facility, product, lot number, and units. The cost of poor quality is also captured here, as are supporting files.
2. NCP Tasks - Enables the NCP Owner to assign tasks to be completed, and to choose the person responsible to completing the task. Tasks include Containment, Disposition, Investigation, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, and Effectiveness Assessment.

The Details tab enables the event owner to delegate the event to an event manager, to manage organize the event into the proper category and subcategory, to associate the event with a related product and lot number, to choose the applicable defects that apply to the event, to document the problem statement, to quantify the cost of poor quality, and to view records associated with the event such as the initiation date, the name of the initiator, the date/time tasks were assigned, and the completion dates.



Details / Cost of Poor Quality

The NCP module enables capturing Cost of Poor Quality data via quantification of the nonconformance in terms of quantity and dollars for the initial amount, the salvage amount, and the actual loss amount.




The NCP module supports associating multiple nonconforming units with a single NCP. Additionally, each unit can be given a unique disposition and corresponding disposition instructions.



Related Events 

NCPs can be easily related to other NCPs, and even to other events such as customer complaints. In addition to providing seamless access to other related events, this feature is especially valuable when, for example, a single investigation covers multiple NCPs. In such cases, the investigation needs to be recorded only in one NCP.




Files such as documents or pictures can be attached as supporting evidence for the NCP.                          





Email notifications can be quickly sent to other persons who are not involved (or not yet involved) in the NCP event to make him/her aware of the NCP. This is especially valuable for communicating nonconformances experienced in one facility to other facilities that manufacture the same product.



Quality Tickets 

NCP Patrol enables Quality Tickets to be printed and placed on the nonconforming material to identify its quality state at two points in the process: 
1. When the nonconforming product is first identified - When nonconforming product is made, a Hold, Quarantine, or Reject ticket is placed on the material to prevent further processing.
2. When the nonconforming product is dispositioned - After the disposition is defined and approved, the quality ticket is replaced with a disposition ticket that documents the approved disposition (e.g. Reclass, Rework, Scrap, or Use-As-Is) and corresponding disposition instructions.




 NCP Console - Tasks

The NCP Manager and NCP Owner have the ability to choose which NCP Tasks must be completed based on the nature and severity of  the NCP event. Tasks can be initiated sequentially so that the decision to complete a task can be based on the outcome of a previous task.




NCP's integrated workflow enables users to quickly define, assign, and approve actions required to prevent nonconforming product from further use.




By definition, all nonconforming product needs to be dispositioned to define what to do with the product to minimize financial loss. NCP's integrated workflow enables users to quickly define the proposed disposition and corresponding disposition instructions, secure the appropriate approvals, and then assign the disposition actions to the appropriate personnel.




Facilitates the investigation of the nonconformance, the capture of related investigation data and the investigation report, and the approval of the investigation results and recommendations via configurable workflow. Additionally, a PRN-based risk assessment is included as part of the investigation process to determine additional tasks that may, or may not, be required (such as RCA and CAPA).



Root Cause Analysis 

Enables the documentation of the RCA in the best-practice Ishikawa categories: Equipment, Process, People, Materials, Environment, and Management. Supports both primary and secondary cause documentation. Once the RCA is completed, the results can be routed for approval.



Corrective Actions 

Enables corrective actions to be assigned and given a due date. Warning emails are automatically sent if actions are past-due. Records the completion of the assigned actions accordingly.                          




Preventive Actions 

Enables preventive actions to be assigned and given a due date. Warning emails are automatically sent if actions are past-due. Records the completion of the assigned actions accordingly.



Effectiveness Assessment 

Enables follow-up  actions to be assigned to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions over time. Warning emails are automatically sent if effectiveness assessment actions are past-due. Records the completion of the assigned actions accordingly.
